Who am I ?

Hi, I’m Savannah Malone — an author, educator, and lifelong learner dedicated to creating stories that inspire curiosity, empathy, and imagination. I’ve spent years teaching children from diverse backgrounds, and that experience has shown me how powerful stories can be in shaping the way young minds see the world.

My journey as a writer began with a deep love for language and travel. Having lived and studied in Japan, I draw from a blend of cultures, languages, and perspectives to create stories that celebrate both our differences and our shared humanity. Each book I write is an invitation to learn — about ourselves, about others, and about the beauty of simply wondering.

When I’m not writing, you can find me illustrating, exploring new ideas for Manabi Club (my creative language-learning project), or sipping tea while dreaming up my next story..

My Philosophy on Children’s Books and Writing

I believe children’s literature should do more than entertain — it should teach empathy, spark curiosity, and nurture a sense of connection. The stories we read as children often become the quiet foundations of how we think, feel, and dream as adults.

For me, writing for children means trusting their depth. Kids are thoughtful, observant, and capable of understanding big emotions and complex ideas when they’re presented with honesty and care. My goal is to write stories that help young readers see that their feelings are valid, that differences are beautiful, and that kindness and imagination can change the world.

Every story begins with a question — and through words and art, I hope to help children find their own answers.
